I feel like I’m being judged by the vet, when they ask me questions about how I treat my dog. The touchiest topic discussed at the vet for me, is the same topic that I regret talking about at my own doctor. Maybe this is why there was an article written which was specifically about lies that pet owners tell vets. Two of these lied that are told ,has to do with food.

One of my favorite lies is told by the owner that their dog isn’t fat. The other of my favorites is that they only feed them a specific amount of food. Even though I do sometimes let my dog eat more than he’s supposed to eat, I always tell the vet the truth. I like to be open with him, even when I don’t want to admit the truth.

If the vet tells me that my dog is overweight, I’m not going to argue with him and say that the dog’s fine. I rather just talk about the weight issue, even if it means admitting that I feed him too much or the the wrong foods. By admitting what I feed my dog, the vet will be able to make suggestions to me, as to what I should cut out of his diet.

Not only do I provide them with the essentials, but they also have a lot of things that aren’t considered to be necessary. I’ll be honest, and tell you that they have a months worth of clothing. And then of course they have their own bedrooms and actual beds. What can I say? I love my dogs!

A few weeks ago, I had heard about break ins that have been happening in my town. They were mostly being done during the day, so my dogs were the first thing that I thought about. I go to work for most of the day, and they are alone in the house. I can’t be there to protect them, and I couldn’t stand being paranoid about them during the day. I decided that I needed to get an alarm system to make me feel better, and to know that they are safe. I researched online, and I decided that ADT home alarms have such good reviews, so I didn’t even bother looking for other brands.

I now have an alarm system installed in my home, and I no longer have to worried about my home or dogs!

Thanks for the guest post by Jonathan Curtis

I recently moved into my dream house and my family has been so instrumental in making sure I’m all settled. My sister is actually an interior decorator by trade so she came in after I got everything unpacked and made sure it all looked good – I wouldn’t have known what to do if it weren’t for her. My brother pointed me to http://www.texaselectricityproviders.com/ to look into energy prices and I even talked to him about whether or not I should get a security system but at the end of the day buying this house meant I was on my own – it was the first place I ever owned that was all mine. Since the divorce my family has really rallied around me which I can’t tell you how much I appreciate. There have been times when I would have felt really alone if it hadn’t been for them making sure I was okay. I can’t ever really begin to thank them enough for that, you know?

Sadly, my girlfriend’s dog, Charlie passed away a couple of weeks ago. Everybody was sad as he was part of the family, and died young at the age of 10. Mom felt lonely and so they decided to get a new dog from the same shelter that Charlie came from after a brief period of mourning. The result? Meet Pepper! Of course, being a shelter dog, his ancestry is not 100% clear. All we know is that he’s a terrier mix. So he could be small, medium, large or extra large in size. But, that’s part of the fun! Adopt a shelter pup yourself if you can – save a life and welcome a new member to your family.

Time to get excited about seeing all kinds of cute little dogs. On Monday and Tuesday, more than 2000 dogs will compete for a trophy at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. This is a must see for all dog lovers, as they dogs are just irresistibly adorable to watch. Just seeing them is cute, but watching them compete for a prize makes it even better. I also like to see the owners get so competitive. I can’t wait to watch the show. And to me, all of the dogs are winners. They all have such talent, and I give their owners credit for doing such a great job.

Contribution by Michale Greer

When my husband first signed us up for Dish TVI thought it was the biggest waste of money. I was like who in their right mind needs thousands of TV channels but boy let me tell you, I was wrong. I love my husband but I don’t trust him enough – this is the best thing that’s ever happened to our marriage! Because we watch so much TV together it’s helped us discover tons of other things we didn’t even know we have in common. For example, we both love cooking shows and Top Chefhas got to be our favorite – now we like to buy ingredients together at the store and make elaborate meals together! I love my husband and though we are pretty sedentary I think it’s cool that even after 8 years of marriage we’re still learning new things about each other. I guess love really does keep growing even as you get older and I’m okay with that – as long as I don’t find out anything about him that I DON’T like!

The important thing to remember about choosing one is that there are different dogs that are better for some than others. You have to consider how much space you have for the dog to run around, and how much time your going to have with it. If you know you won’t have much time to play and spend time with the dog, then it would be wise to get a dog that doesn’t mind spending time on its own. If you don’t have a big yard, then you shouldn’t choose a dog that requires a lot of play time. Choosing the wrong dog can be bad for not only you, but for the dog as well

With the holidays behind us, it’s a relief that we have the whole year until we need start holiday shopping once again. Although this is true, I like to use the beginning of the year to at least narrow down what I will be getting my family and friends for their birthdays. Many of my families birthdays are in the beginning of the year, so it’s especially important to think about their gifts sooner than later. I would like to think of myself as a decent gift giver. I think very carefully before I actually buy a gift. I’m not just going to buy a gift card to a store that they might like, just because it’s easy. I like my gift receivers to really think that I know that well enough to get a gift just right for them. So far I have gifts picked out for the people who have birthdays in Febrary (2 of them) and in April.

My mom is the hardest person to get a gift for, out of everyone else. She really loves to cook , so I used to get her cookbooks, but how much can someone really cook? I then thought about what her other hobbies are, and I remembered she’s recently started to garden more. She has a lot of flowers that are just planted in the ground, and are just boring. I searched online and found a maycreek 24″ copper planter, which is sure to waken up her (start up)garden.

Then there’s my cousin who recently got a new house. She’s always looking for ways for it to look more bright and welcoming, and I’m sure my gift to her will help. I’m going to give her a mohawk architect rug. With the vibrant colors, she will no longer be complaining about her dark and dingy living room.

Lastly, there’s my uncle who is a huge dog lover. He truly lives for his dogs, and he especially loved his first one;a Golden Retriever who passed away a long time ago, but he just can’t seem to stop thinking of her. He’s often comparing the dogs he has to the Golden. Once again I went online for a gift, and searched silver ornament dog loss, and I found the perfect one. He can now remember his treasured pet every time he looks at his Christmas tree. Since his birthday is a while away from December, I’m going to suggest he can even use the ornament for any household tree he has as well.

I can’t wait to see all three of their reactions!

It can be great to have a pet, especially a dog. They are always there for you, and they never talk back at you. And the of course the fact that they are so cute, and you can even dress them up to look even cuter. The truth is that all of these factors contribute to the positive side of having a dog. What many people don’t realize is how time consuming it really is to have a dog. Maybe they are at work the majority of the day, and they just don’t have the time to take the dog for walks and play with it. Then there is the financial side of having a dog. From taking it to the vet to buying food, the bucks can surly add up. The important thing to remember is that it is nice to have that snuggly dog who you can spend time with, but you need to decide if right now is really the right time to get one.
